Black and white portrait of Sam Wong - Vice President - Rallyday Partners

What is your favorite childhood memory?

I’m a first generation Asian American. My parents immigrated in their late 20s and worked in Chinatown sweatshops to make ends meet when I was growing up. I never got to see them much, so my favorite childhood memories were the mundane weekly Sunday errands because this is when I got to spend the most time with them.

What has been your most defining life experience?

Moving to Denver. It was quite a change from being born, raised & living in NYC at the time!

What has been your toughest life experience?

Making the decision to pursue and accept an investment banking job. It was long hours and very demanding to work for a number of different characters. It tested my grit, mental, and physical capacity but overall, it was a rewarding experience. I learned a lot and when I think back on the experience, I have some fond memories and a few good chuckles.

What do you believe to be the most important leadership skill?

TRANSPARENCY. Leading with transparency requires a willingness to be honest and open and results in stakeholder trust, engagement, and better performance.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Landing my first full-time job out of college.

Sam Wong

Vice President

Sam Wong is a private equity investor and former investment banker who feels privileged to partner and support founders, entrepreneurs, and operators. Earlier in her career, Sam was an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets, where she advised and supported the capital raising efforts of middle market telecom companies and helped them achieve their strategic goals. Following her tenure at RBC, Sam honed her investment acumen at Instar Asset Management, providing capital to middle market infrastructure companies.

Sam considers herself a helper and a challenger. She cares deeply about the people she works with and their success. As a member of the investment team at Rallyday, her formal responsibilities include sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investment opportunities as well as supporting portfolio companies. However, what excites her the most about her work is turning visions into reality, satiating her curiosity, and delving into data. One of her favorite parts of her work is actively listening to the concerns of founders and operators, researching to identify the optimal solution, and helping them solve their problems.

Outside of Rallyday, you’ll find Sam relaxing in her Arvada home that she shares with her partner or exploring a new hobby. While she has lived in Colorado for the past 5+ years, Sam is a native New Yorker and will always consider NYC her home. Sometimes, she doesn’t know whether to root for the Denver Nuggets or the Brooklyn Nets. Sam holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Baruch College.
